The same psychol ogical tendencies that help humans cooperate in so cial groups also shape how we evaluate evidence\, reason about controversial issues\, and distinguis h fact from misinformation. These tendencies are n ot unique to any particular political ideology\, a nd even scientists are vulnerable to the same soci al pressures that distort reasoning away from trut h and toward preferred conclusions. Dr. Cory Clark will discuss some of her work on bias in the beha vioral sciences and self-censorship among psycholo gy professors\, highlighting the political and pro fessional pressures that influence what scholars a re willing to study\, say\, and publish.

Dr. Cory Clark received her PhD from Un iversity of California\, Irvine\, and worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at University at Buffalo and Florida State University\, an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Science at Durham University in the United Kingdom\, the Director of Academic Engageme nt for Heterodox Academy\, and a Visiting Scholar in The Wharton School and School of Arts and Scien ces at University of Pennsylvania. Currently\, she is the Executive Director of the Adversarial Coll aboration Project at University of Pennsylvania an d an Associate Professor of Psychology at New Coll ege of Florida.
