NAUA Monthly Worship Service: “The Courage of Crazy Wisdom in a Dangerous Time” with Rev. Alex Holt

“Crazy Wisdom” can be many things but Wes Nisker told us in his book “The Essential Crazy Wisdom” that it can help heal us in times that could be filled with pessimism. Crazy Wisdom arises from all great spiritual teachers such as Jesus, the Buddha, and so many others. Crazy wisdom is the wisdom of the saint, the Zen master, the poet, the mad scientist, and the holy fool. How can we as courageous heretics help heal our corner of this troubled world together?
Rev. Alex Holt will lead September’s worship service. Alex is a semi-retired UU minister currently living in a humble cottage in the forest outside Eugene, Oregon. He is an accredited interim minister and served congregations in Oregon, Washington, Illinois, Texas, Pennsylvania and South Carolina over 30 years. Currently, he is working on an online support group tentatively called “Making Friends with Aging and Death.” He also volunteers at cat shelters and has a cat who adopted him four years ago. He is 22 years sober from alcohol and leads a Buddhist Recovery group.
